As a professional acoustic and electric bassist I’ve been searching for tone my whole life. And while my skills were improving and I was gaining some world class experience as a player, I came to realize that I needed to explore and understand the equipment I was relying on if I was going to achieve my sonic vision. My fascination with electronics coupled with years of experimentation led to the development of my first real product - the internal pre-amps you’ll find in any Fodera bass. Fodera basses are some of the most sought after instruments on the planet and their clientele include many of the world’s finest players.

Over the past few years I’ve been building custom pre-amps here and there for friends and colleagues but I felt the need to share my vision on a grander, yet more accessible scale. So, I started my new company, Michael Pope Design, as the outlet for a new line of products that I believe offer any bassist the tools they need to find their voice - regardless of skill or style.

The MPP line of external, rack mountable bass preamplifiers represents the marriage of my experience as both a world-traveling bassist and as an electronics designer ...a broad and diverse skill set I've worked very hard to cultivate and develop. After years of hard work I'm proud to announce the introduction of the MPP bass pre-amplifiers. And while I know that my sound is in here I think I can honestly say that your sound is in here as well!
